Winter Campsite

All tucked in for a long winters nap. Hopefully we will make some time to refinish the cabinet doors, build a new dinette table, and to get the icebox back together. Need to repair some storm windows and add some insulation to the house first though..

Tourist from Planet Shasta

I was recently asked to customize a Funkey vinyl toy blank for a charity auction held in LA. I was very focused on the Shasta at the time as we were working hard to get it completed enough to camp a bit this summer. Anyhow here's the result, more than slightly inspired by our Airflyte! One Year Later - Wings back on!

Finally finished polishing the wings and got them back on today! They polished up fairly well but are in kind of rough shape with several dents and such. The Shasta feels a lot more finished now, even though there is a still a fairly big list of things that we want to do. I also just noticed that yesterday was the one year anniversary of the date that we first got the Shasta home, making it really appropriate that it got it's wings back!

Camping at Watkins Glen

Took the Shasta on a quick weekend trip to Watkins Glen, NY. We camped in the State Park, hiked the gorge, and spent some time downtown at the foot of Seneca Lake. The annual Vintage Races were going on at the race track and I spent some time there each day. Due to the event at the track, the cars that were in the area this weekend were unbelievable. Many of the campsites had folks who were tent camping with the vintage sports cars.

Camping at Limekiln Lake

The last stop on our Adirondack trip was for two nights at Limekiln Lake near Inlet and Old Forge. Our site was pretty small but worked out well. The only other vintage trailer we saw there was this one serving as a canoe rental shack!

Camping at Rollins Pond

Our first stop in the Adirondacks was Rollins Pond. We really like that the sites are wooded and on the water. We can keep the boats right at our campsite and paddle through a bunch of ponds that are connected to each other, sometimes with a carry through the woods. Most of these ponds don't have any motor boats on them which keeps them pretty amazing!

800+ miles

We're back from the trip to the Adirondacks that we were working so hard to get the Shasta ready for. The trip went really well. We ended up towing it over 800 miles and set up camp in 3 different locations over the course of the week. I was also able to get our homebuilt kayaks onto the car in a secure way that worked with the camper. Typically the boats would hang off the back too far for turning clearance so it became a bonus engineering project to work things out with the camper.
